On the morning I received a strange letter. It had slipped the envelope under the door of my office and I almost stepped on entering. It was a white envelope with a black headband around the edge, like that which is sent to the announcements of deaths. Inside a single page torn from a school notebook, and on this graph paper, carefully folded in four, drawing a puppet hanging at the end of his rope on a crooked stem.
